Platinum Jubilee Fashion Spotlight

The Platinum Jubilee spotlight wasn't only on the concerts, performers, parades, and balcony appearances - Royal fashion took center stage. Coordinating colors, favorite designers, and bit of a Hollywood glam reigned the Platinum Jubilee fashion spotlight.

Shades of Blue

HRH Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, HRH Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge and her children THR Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte complimented HM The Queen in shades of blue at the Trooping of Colour on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Camilla wore a blue striped Bruce Oldfield dress and blue Philip Treacy hat. Catherine wore an Alexander McQueen coat dress in white, but pulled in the theme with her accessories including her sapphire and diamond pendant necklace, a Philip Treacy hat with a pop of navy blue, and sapphire and diamond drop earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. Princess Charlotte wore a blue chiffon dress by children's brand Patachou with a matching blue satin ribbon in her hair. Prince Louis was in a blue-accented sailor suit while Prince George wore a navy blue suit with coordinating blue neck tie.

Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex was spotted behind-the-scenes following the theme as well. She wore the 'Granville' hat by Stephen Joan that features a large navy blue ribbon fashioned into a bow and what is believed to be her Roland Mouret 'Barwick' dress. All of the ladies' dresses were re-wears.

Beulah London

Beulah London is a luxury brand that has been worn by the Royals throughout the years, but the brand was on heavy display during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Beulah London works to help and support victims of modern day slavery and human trafficking by incorporating traditional craft techniques such as hand-weaving and embroidery into their collections, enabling the women in their supply chain to gain meaningful employment. Zara Tindall wore the Beulah London 'Darsha' dress is raspberry for the Trooping of the Colour. She paired it with Tony Bianco pumps and the Juliette Millinery 'Floral Blossom' percher.

Zara's first cousin, HRH Princess Beatrice, wore the Beulah London 'Ahana' crepe midi dress is Ombre for the Service of Thanksgiving on Friday June 3, 2022, and her distant cousin-by-marriage, Lady Fredrick Windsor (Sophie Winkleman) chose the exact same dress for the same event, but in Hot Pink. Princess Beatrice accessorized her Beulah London dress with the Juliette Botterilli 'Silk Bow' percher, Ralph and Russo heels, and a Sophie Webster clutch. Sophie went with a floral headband, white handbag, and nude pumps.

Emilia Wickstead, a familiar brand because of the Royals, was another popular choice for the Jubilee celebrations. Kate and HRH Princess Eugenie chose to wear the designer for the Service of Thanksgiving.

A Grown Up Lady Louise

A confident-appearing Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of TRH The Earl (Prince Edward) and The Countess (Sophie) of Wessex, debuted a more grown up style at the Service of Thanksgiving. She wore a dress by Ghost that featured a V-neck, button detailing, a split to create movement while walking, and gathered detail around the around the shoulders and under the bust. The 'Delphine' dress in ivory is made from heavy statin fabric obtained from sustainable sources.

Lady Louise accessorized with a Sophie Habsburg clutch, a sparkly pink bespoke Jane Taylor headband, light pink suede pumps with a pointed toe, ankle straps, and a chunky heel, and by layering her necklaces and bracelets. The Queen's youngest granddaughter wore her shoulder length blond hair in soft curls. She coordinated with her mother, Sophie, who wore the 'Alessia' dress in rose gold by Suzannah London.

Although she turned 18 back in November, Lady Louise has yet to decide is she will take on the titles of Her Royal Highness and Princess. In interviews, Prince Edward and Sophie have said that they did not give their children titles at birth because they wanted to make sure Louise and her younger brother, James, Viscount Severn, understood that they would most likely have to work for a living. While Sophie has previously said that it's "unlikely" that Louise would take Her Royal Highness title, speculation has emerged that she might, given that her parents have taken on more Royal duties since the exit of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and since Prince Andrew was made to step back from his Royal duties. Louise has been seen at the forefront of Royal life lately, participating in the BCC documentary Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers and in varying compacities at the Royal Windsor Horse show in May in the lead up to the Platinum Jubilee.

Pretty in Pink

Not only did the mother/daughter duo pick coordinating pink for the Service of Thanksgiving, but they also wore the hue the day before for the Trooping the Colour. Lady Louise opted for the Reiss 'Livia' midi dress paired with the Philip Treacy hat and Hobbs London 'Ana' jacket - two items that had been worn by her mother at the 2009 Trooping the Colour. Her mother, Sophie, The Countess of Wessex, wore a bespoke Suzannah London dress with a bespoke Jane Taylor hat. The Wessex family weren't the only pretties in pink. The color was seen throughout the 4-day Platinum Jubilee Celebration. Zara Tindall, Sophie Winkleman, and Lady Gabriella Windsor (another distant cousin) all chose pink for the Service of Thanksgiving. Zara and Sophie both wore bright pink (bespoke Jane Green and Beulah London, respectively) while Lady Gabriella went for a peachy pink color.

Zara again chose pink for the last day of the Jubilee celebrations on Sunday, June 5, 2022 along with her cousin-in-law The Duchess of Cambridge. Zara wore a Zimmerman dress in a summary pink floral pattern for the Jubilee pageant and The Duchess wore a bold pink bespoke Stella McCartney creation for her last balcony appearance of the weekend.

Hollywood Glamour

American Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex wore Dior for her first public appearance in the UK in two years. Accompanied by her husband, Prince Harry, The Duchess attended the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral. She wore a trench coat designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for the Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2002 collection along with a pair of Dior gloves, and the 'D-Moi' Dior pumps, and a hat designed by Steven Jones for the Dior label. Dior and Steven Jones are favorites of Meghan's; she wore the designers many times while still a working Royal. The Duchess reportedly wore a skirt and blouse, both from Dior, under the trench coat.

The Duchess of Sussex's outfit channeled old Hollywood glamour and Audrey Hepburn, Dior's original brand ambassador. Hepburn, another American actress, was the muse for Humbert Givenchy - the label that eventually designed Meghan's wedding dress.
